The Ritual

The upcoming movie The Ritual has my design work in it (including the big spooky thing responsible for all the happenings).

The director David Bruckner was brilliant, and really amazing to work with.  Here's an interview with him about the film: Director David Bruckner Talks The Ritual
And a preview describing the movie: TIFF 2017: The Ritual

Looks like it's showing October 13th in the UK.  It's been bought by Netflix, so still not sure on what distribution in other territories will be like.

    1. Thanks! I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Will wait a little while before showing the art so that people get a chance to see it fresh in the movie first.

  4. Hey Keith! Wanted to say beautiful work on the design of the creature for this! The use of silhouette versus the anatomy up close is very interesting, I would definitely love to pick your brain about it and some of the other projects you've worked on more if you wouldn't mind?

  5. Just finished the film and found you in the credits. Immediately wanted to drop by show love for that great fucking monster. As someone else said, cannot wait to see the concepts! If you had a hand in the symbology and other creature designs (esp. in the attic), those are stellar too. Super lovely work, man!

  10. Just finished this film... and as more of the creature was revealed, I actually thought 'I'll bet Keith Thompson designed this thing'. You've got such a particular style. Been a fan for a decade now, and it's so wonderful to see your incredibly unique imagination up there running around in the forest being horrible and awesome. Bravo.

  11. I just saw the movie and the second the creature was revealed I audibly yelled, “That’s Keith Thompson!!” Looked it up and was so very excited/proud. Your character designs and commitment to world-building within your art is so inspiring.

  12. I just fonished the film, I am interested what If he decided to stand up and maybe fight those thieves (that killed his friend, and he didn't help them) in the visions created by yotunn aka the creature that your creature has the concept with. I understand that, that creature is making people to change or to maximally regret being cowards or everything negative (it wants people to be honest and overal good) so what if he punished those thieves in the shop and then he would show that he changed and defeated his own problem and by that he would also defeat the monster (maybe it is unforgivable that he hadnt helped his friend that moment in the shop), but just what if he would just show the yotunn that he changed and he is now redempted - I think he would be like peer with the monster - The Yotunn is the guy who makes people better (brutally but Yes) and the guy changed(sorry I forgot his name) and would let him be (But the Yotunn helps, but also demands respect from those that he redempted sooooooo 🤷‍♂️ who knows, maybe lets ask the old Swedes from the forest)
